Make a Difference Globally
Zonta International Foundation (www.zonta.org)
The foundation (501c3) of Zonta International raises funds to support United Nations and other programs the members vote on to support to aide women around the world. Right now, projects include breaking the cycle of domestic violence in India, working on women and girls’ literacy in Afghanistan, and creating learning opportunities and village banks for women in both Africa and South America.
SIAS University Foundation (en.sias.edu.cn)
Nestled in the heart of central China, the city of Xinzheng is home to SIAS International University, which was founded in 1998 by Chinese American entrepreneur, Dr. Shawn Chen. Jacobsen joined this foundation board soon after, and works tirelessly to raise awareness of rising China, create greater understanding through learning opportunities, and identify profound ways in which foreigners can make a difference there. To adopt a SIAS International University student is easy, and costs about $1,500 USD per year to educate, feed, and house a student from rural China who would otherwise not get the opportunity to study, learn, and grow to greater success in China’s new economy.
